Admissions
Admission Procedures
- Children ages two years nine months through six are eligible for enrollment. Interested parents are asked to call the school and make an appointment to observe the class in session.
- Children are accepted on a first come first serve basis. Priority is given to children currently enrolled in the program and their siblings, younger students, siblings of students from Montessori elementary programs, and transfer students from other Montessori schools. The school also reserves the right to balance the class by age, gender, and culture.
- Upon receipt of the application form and fee, letters of acceptance will be sent out in the spring prior to the September date of admissions.
- We do not interview children prior to admissions as we believe that Montessori fits the child, the child does need to fit Montessori. As a parent, you know your child best and know whether the school will be the right match.
- The Montessori Children's House welcomes children of diverse racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Toilet training is not required; however, we ask that families be leading young children toward independence by introducing them to toilet training prior to their first days of school. The staff is happy to assist children with toilet training.
- Children starting school for the first time will be invited to the school to meet with the staff prior to their first day to help them become more familiar with the staff and the environment and assist in making their first experiences positive. Children who have previously attended The Montessori Children's House will begin school for a few days alone and will become the role models for the new children who will be assimilated into the group gradually during the month of September.
